For years VIP Salon and Spa has taken the stance against using the 'dremel" drill to file out nails. VIP Salon, being the leader in the Michigan nail industry to get the illegal product MMA banned by the State of Michigan that was/is being used for nails in discounted nail salons has taken a look at a new way to remove product.
Dremel drills were almost a necessity to file out this illegal material known as MMA (Methyl Methacrylate). The product that was placed on the natural nails would be drilled into the nail plate so that it was not able to lift off. This would leave a red ring and dents into the natural nail plate leaving the nail much weaker and damaged. The pain and horror stories of these drills and the products being used was horrendous and left the industry losing many good nail technicians who could not understand why their products would not "adhere" like the discounted salons products would. To this day this is still happening. The reason? Costs... A gallon of MMA liquid used to mix with the acrylic powder is less than $75. A gallon of the legal liquid EMA (Ethyl Methacrylate) used by nail technicians charging higher pricing is $250-300 per gallon. The higher priced product, when mixed with acrylic powder produces a softer acrylic nail and is created to break under pressure. One example is a client who's finger was stuck in a dog chain while walking her dog. The finger nail broke and she was able to remove her finger. The MMA nail would not have released and would have ripped her natural nail off. Fast forward....
Years later the industry now offers gel nails, dip nails, polishes that need to soaked off and yes, acrylic nails. Nail technicians have found from repetitive hand filing they are developing carpal tunnel. The new services require soaking products off in acetone.
There is now a solution that VIP SALON has decided to offer to our technicians and clients. The E-FILE. The e-file is a electric file that is designed to be used on an array of nail services. The e-file gives nail technicans the ability to have control of the rotation speed of the handbit. The company that produces the e-file has also built safety bits so that they are not able to 'cut' into the cuticle or skin. VIP SALON is looking to offer our clients a greater service because of the ability to create a better adhesion to the products as well as eliminate the usage of acetone to "soak enhancements off". It also allows a better cuticle experience in that we have eliminated the need to clip cuticles but gently remove the top layer of "dead" cuticle. In a few days the cuticles will still look freshly manicured; rough and dry cuticles will not grow back. Our nail technicians will be able to offer a better quality of service by gently eliminating the pytergium from the nail bed without cutting cuticle.
